Chickens In Ya Window

So I have a bird that I would like to do a poll on. Girl or boy? Beautiful green tail feathers. This is a terrible photo of a shy chicken, but normal tail carriage is upright. Duckwing bar on wings. Very nice neck hackles with pointed tips. No saddle feathers, but maybe just a bit young for that yet. Everything to me says this is a boy. Except this chicken sings the "I laid an egg" song, has a high pitched voice, and clucks up a storm. The comb is very small and pale pink. This bird has always been picked on, it was scalped nearly to death by turkeys after being shunned by the chickens. SC, does your brother need a chicken? I will try to get a video of its talk tomorrow. I moved the four biggest babies to the chicken's coop since those that are girls should start laying, and to get Goldie, the old Ameraucana, back into the lighted coop with the roos so come spring she will be laying fertile eggs. I think there are three or four more chickens left in the turkey coop. The turkeys broke two roosts today. These are the biggest heritage turkeys I've ever grown.

My guess is male, only because of the hackles, and the look on its face, but I'm sure your guess is better than mine. Its a very pretty bird though! Oh, I've also heard my EE roo make sounds like the girls egg songs, lots of times.

Absolutely a boy... I would bet good money on it, no hesitation... no hen will get that distinctive male DW pattern... theirs is totally different... I've had several roosters sound like hens and sing egg songs too... that's why I don't use 'typical behavior' as a gender guess... Very gorgeous too... would be a great roo for sc's bro...

No kidding? Im in deep sh*t... My neighbors fenceline is my duck pens fence, and they dont mind the 5 cay hens over there... I catch em all the time outside watchin em and showin the family! I do bribe them with the occasinal dozen eggs but theyre awsome neighbors its not lost to me. I want to expand my duck flock badly ever since i hatched those pekin cross eggs. My best friend wants a city pet duck flock also all drakes, talk about help me out! Ive had hubby lookin at pics of mandarins too

Our neighbors on the duck side don't dare say anything... but I know all our birds irritate them, lol...
Call drakes are perfect for a city pet flock... smaller and less messy than regular sized ducks and they're quieter volume wise, but do love to chatter...
