Found a dead rat in the middle of their run this morning. Possible they attacked it?

I'm guessing you have not put out rat poison?
How close to neighbors that could have put out poison do you live?
RIR have a reputation for being aggressive ... They could have killed it, but ... If they had, I'd have thought that they would have eaten it too! How big is it 6" or 18"?
Are there peck mark bruises on the rat?

It is possible a neighbor put out poison. It was 14" nose to tail.
