Also, I only do the tarps when it is night.

Night is when you need ventilation the most! Because they're trapped in there with their nighttime poop and their hot, moist breath.

You need this kind of airFLOW to take the heat, the moisture, and the ammonia out of the coop for the sake of the birds health.

Draft-free at bird level, freely-flowing over their heads.

Just what I came back to say, if it is that dark in there, there is not enough ventilation. Trying to keep them warm, often times back fires, because you are really keeping them damp and poor air quality.
