So I know chickens and quail can’t go in the same enclosure, so the chicken field is about 10m from the quail aviary. The thing i was wondering is if wearing the same shoes in both habitats could make the quail ill, or if I’m just being paranoid. I only just got the quail today, so any advice is appreciated, thanks

Any increased amount of exposure to other birds will increase the chance the quail catch something. Proximity to chickens, equipment transfer, exposure to wild birds, anything.

How paranoid you want to be about this is up to you. There's plenty of people who manage just fine and are lucky forever. There are plenty who aren't lucky, even with good bio security. Imo limiting the acquisition of new birds and properly quarantining them is probably the best thing you can do to lower your risks. If I were to have gamebirds and chickens on the same property, my quail would be in an enclosure where I could at least change gloves/wash hands and disinfect my shoes before going in.

We don’t have racoons in this country, and is it possible for rats to chew through?

Alright but if you've got mice, rats, hawks, or weasels you're still in trouble. They will simply reach through the openings and start pulling birds out piece by piece. You've gotta use something with a smaller diameter hole, and bury it at least half a foot into the ground so they can't dig under.

Rats can easily get in. If they don't kill your birds they will foul their food.

Wearing shoes could transfer diseases, yes. However, given your fairly close proximity of the two, cross-contamination is pretty much inevitable. The best you can do is get quail used to chickens and try to keep your chickens healthy.
