chickens not laying in boxes?

    any advice? our chickens are now laying their eggs on the floor, (in the corner, on a hay covered floor). these same chickens were laying in boxes before, what's changed?

    Maybe they deemed the nest box as not a safe place to lay? You can try putting fake eggs in the nest boxes to make them think it's a safe place again.

    yes try putting fake eggs in the nests.some chickens just change the place where they lay ever now an then.

    I have the same problem unfortunately - I have about 13 chickens that should be laying, but not only are they laying in the farthest corner of the back of the coop, I am pretty sure that they are not all laying regularly either. I have a glass egg in their egg boxes, but that doesn't seem to help - they still all lay in the back. Once they deem a place "unsafe", will it ever become safe again or should we take those egg boxes down and put them in a new place? I think, from reading the other posts about this issue, that we may need to build more boxes too... has anyone been able to convince their hens that the boxes are safe again?
