Chickens on my rental property.

I rent and city limits say I can have no more than 4 hens...no roosters. I have 3 hens. My landlord hasn't done an inspection in a few years and has no clue.

60 hens seems totally excessive.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

That was the same regulation when I lived in the city.

This kind of disrespect shown to landlords though is THE reason we won't be buying rental houses in the future. :old

They shouldn't HAVE to do an inspection for a tenant to disclose they got a pet or livestock that wasn't part of the original rental agreement. But renters NEVER consider how the landlord feels about something or the consequences to the landlord or their home owners policy or liability. What a sad way to live IMHO.

Why not have the guts to present them with your plan including a copy of the regulation and deal with the consequences? Or MOVE where you can live your dream?

Nobody said 60 hens. It was 10 hens and 50 meaties. Your right though, 60 hens is a little excessive! Ask me... :D (some are just grow out, I swear) :lau

Hey, seriously though... thanks for the wake up call, that resonates so loudly what we already know... having rentals isn't worth the investment. As my husband nears retirement the last thing we wanna deal with is drama. And NO amount of $$$ can change that. Sincerely!
