Chickens on my rental property.

Or MOVE where you can live your dream?

Working on this.
Being an animal lover on a rental property is a daily struggle it really is.

I want all the animals...see a dog on the side of the road "take it home!", see a sad puppy being given away on facebook "adopt them all!"...I physically have to talk myself out of it.

I try and be a good tenant in all the other ways I can be.

I wanted to be all indignant and defensive about this but really I have no standing room to do so.

And being in insurance...how did I not think of homeowners insurance?!

I'll admit, despite all that...I'm keeping the girls, but definitely more motivated more to find our own place ASAP, now that i'm in the mindset I may be putting the homeowner at risk.

Yes, I thought about my post as I was spending time outside with the animals. And realized it probably came of harsh, and was a VERY emotional response on my part. Sorry. Also I noted in my heart that you did state you had been there for several years... which is indicative of a fairly good tenant. I didn't mean to insinuate otherwise. Yes, I would be keeping my girls too! :smack :)

I'm so glad that you CHOSE not to be offended, that was very adult, mature, and considerate... VERY much representative of the spirit of BYC! And we ARE all mostly friends here, wanting what is best for each other and our communities. :hugs

On top of that... what you said is SOOO valid. An important DIFFERENT point of view from so many others. We are here to learn from each other. OK, maybe I shouldn't speak for others. But thank you so much for sharing! :highfive:

Also to the original OP, @Jocelyne, my emotional most recent response shows how important the truth is to me. Having a good tenant and one who isn't afraid to approach with their request when they have them in the future... would make me consider allowing whatever amount of chickens I might be comfortable with, despite my reservations... with some sort of written agreement of course. And I don't truly believe it NEEDS to be notarized in order to be legally binding.

Best wishes and great luck to all here! :fl
