I wanted to just see if anyone here could offer any information from personal experience on raising chickens and rabbits together? When we get rabbits and chickens after the pen is built, I would love to be able to let the rabbits out of their hutch to stretch their legs and socialize.

What are your inputs on raising chickens and rabbits together? Is this a good idea, or is it best to avoid them meeting? And if you have raised them together, would you explain how you socialized them in the beginning?

Thank you for your help!

I used to keep my meat rabbits and chickens together. I introduced them to each other the same way you would introduce a new flock member. It worked out great for awhile. My buck actually killed a young silkie roo and almost killed a rir pullet. The roo and pullet both had attitudes and the buck was roughly 15 lbs and territorial. I believe that the personalities of the animals involved needs to be taken into consideration. I'm not certain what kind of rabbits you're referring to but that was my experience.

Thank you for your responses, especially your input Sustained. I am going to make sure I definitely look into it further- and I know to make sure that they never are left unsupervised!

You're welcome. I hope with some research and the warning that you can make it successful. Good luck!
