Chickens stepping on each other

Ok I have a couple hens that always roost to gather on the root poles but I have this sheet of ply wood in my coop that I have my pooler scooper on an what not an they like to sit up there idk why but they try to lay on top off each other or thats what it looks like. So y are they doing that

Is there not much room up there.....Perhaps they like th higher spot...(I know mine do) and they will stack up if they cannot all fit in a row...Might want to think about putting a roost at that lvl for them
