How long should I seperate the "Alpha" Hen? I recently inherited 14 hens, they have been going through a new pecking order, and I thought it was done. The new "Alpha" is my biggest hen, she attacked and drew blood the other day almost ripping the come off of one hen, and has another one almost bald headed and featherless on her tail too. I have a 12x6 run they go out in all day, I seperated her out yesterday into a 6x6 area attached to the other.
I have a pecking block, and put scratch out daily too. I cant let them roam as where I live there are dogs, ( I have 2) that like to catch and eat chickens. How would I stop this? or should I just let it run it's course and treat the wounded?
