Chickens Swimming?

We keep our ducks and chickens together. And with ducks a pond is always nice, so we built a pond and I’m always worried about the chickens as early on we lost a chicken because it drowned.

My dogs routinely run around the run and bark at the chickens. One day my boy ran up to one of my silkies next to the fence. I was not terribly close to the run at the time, but was watching them. My silkie flew up and into the water. I ran up bc I was worried and the water isn’t shallow enough where it landed to be able to stand up. Lo and behold, my silkie essentially floats and bobs over to the wall and gets our just fine. Didn’t even seem phased by it. Wish I could have caught it on camera, but I wasnmore worried about it drowning than watching it swim.

Anyone else have experiences with chickens being able to “swim”. I realize they’re pretty light and should float, but haven’t really thought they could do much in deep water.
