Chickens wasting feed

I found that pellets are less likely to be dropped and left. Also, when I moisten the powdery stuff from the bottom of the bin, they don't waste any of it. I suspect that if you were to feed measured and moistened mash as a regular thing, there would be no waste. I really like the convenience of a feeder and pellets, though.

Ok thanks for the advice! ill definitely stop mixing the feed together with the scratch. As far as me buying new feed, should I get pellets or crumbles?

Mixing feed will not solve your problem. The pellet would be less waste feed then crumble. I solve my with treadle feeder. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/537861/automatic-feeder-attached-to-the-coop
