Outside of the normal Feed, I've been given them all vegy and fruit scraps and left overs. I've heard some folks feed them regular dinner left overs. What do you feed yours? What won't you feed yours and why?

Thanks

Nothing moldy or rotten. Other than that pretty much anything you can eat they can eat. High fat, high salt, high sugar should be in moderation at most. Always keep a balanced ration freely available.

I am feeding chickens, guineas, ducks, geese, and peafowl, they all get about the same mix.

Fermented Whole Oats, Whole Barley, Red & White Milo, and some other grains dressed with Organic brewers yeast, green powder, etc. Then I'm growing fodder (a.k.a wheat grass) for them all too.

As far as other goodies go, they love scrambled eggs, oatmeal, watermelon, BOSS, and many other treats.

I take care not to feed them anything sugary, processed, etc..only good, wholesome treats.

Hopefully I can start growing some meal worms for them soon, and I'm also planning on fixing them up a garden spot as well. : )

I'm thinking of growing Sage, Parsley, Cabbage, Thyme, Dill, Squash, Lemon Bomb, Oregano, Lavender, Mint, Cilantro, Basil, Garlic, Marigold, Rosemary, Tomatoes, Zucchini, Sunflowers, Spinach, Kale, Chard, Green Beans..to name a few.

My birds get kitchen/butchering/fish cleaning scraps. I don't give them onion, citrus or banana peels as they don't eat them, same for avocado peels or pits. I have had birds eat avocado meat, though, and folks'll swear that will kill them. Not my birds

I plant a good garden for the humans, and the chickens get leavings from that, too. All canning/preserving scraps go to the flock. So do those huge squash that hide until they're the size of a baseball bat. Any greens are good, personally I like Swiss Chard as it overwinters easily here and I can give my hens some greens all year round for nice orange yolks.
