I have 4 chickens that I just can't figure out what's wrong with them. 2 older chickens we've treated for an upper respiratory infection and that hasn't helped. It hasn't spread to other chickens but I can't get them better. The 2 young chicks I think were just born blind? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Mycoplasma gallisepticum also known as chronic respiratory disease can pass to chicks through contact or the hatching egg. Symptoms are eye bubbles foam or sticky drainage, swelling of the eyelids and sinuses, and other respiratory or breathing problems. Chicks may never achieve potential. Tylosin (tylan) can help treat symptoms, but the disease is with them for life.

Where are you located in the world and what antibiotic have you tried?

The chicks look like they have pus caked in the eyes. Apply a warm compress to the eyes, then see if you can work the pus out, flush well with saline and apply an eye ointment like Terramycin.

For the adults, flush their eyes with saline and apply eye ointment in the eyes.
