Chickens won’t roost on new roost

Our chickens have always slept on a roost, but ever since we moved them into the coop they have been roosting everywhere but on the designated spot. Does anyone know why this may be or how i could “train” them to roost where they are supposed to?

I had this issue when I introduced them to a new coop, I just had to constantly move them to the spot you want them in. It’s best to do it once it’s dark as they will then probably stay where they are as they don’t like to move around in the dark. Try also blocking off any places you don’t want them to roost.

They’re 1yr and 6 months. This is the best picture i have right now… I’m thinking maybe the ramp is too steep for them? It’s only about 3 feet off of the ground

Yes my boyfriend has been moving them to the roost at night but he’s getting tired of doing it

Haha, chickens can be so stubborn.
Why don’t you try blocking off the nest boxes at night?

Maybe put some treats on each part of the ramp, all the way up to the top, and some on the roosts. They’ll probably be able to get up there if there’s food involved once they realise they can get up there themselves they will probably do it more often

Chickens love nothing more then treats They’ll probably fly up there just to get some mealworms lol

Why don’t you try blocking off the nest boxes at night?

I have some extra plywood i could but with that, my boyfriend leaves for work as soon as he gets up (late) and i don’t live with him so it’s kind of hard to do that :/ It’s the nesting box and also the ramp. They’ll roost on the ramp but not the roosts they drive me coo coo

I wonder if the roosts are too close to the wall? I think I would add an additional roost from one end of the L to the other end, kind of making a triangle.
