So I got a new flock of 8 chickens to add to my flock of 9. The new flock seems to refuse to go indoors at night. Winter is coming and they are still staying out of the coup. I live in Michigan and need some help. How do I get them to go in at night?

How long have they been integrated together, and how well do they get along with the existing birds? Where are they currently sleeping?

Manually herding them in at dusk or placing them in the coop at dark would be the first thing to try, but removing other roost options (i.e. another coop, run roosts) would help with that too.

They were put together early summer. Usually the young 1's follow the older 1's in, but not this year. They are staying on the perches in their enclosed outdoor area.

I would manually place them on roosts after dark.( This may take a while) I put a night light timer till they get the hang of it. Or try to entice them in with treats at dusk . They might be bullied be big girls and remember they can't see well I'm dark.
