Sure they aren't in the beginning stages of broodiness? We started with 3 cluckers a couple of weeks ago and now 10 have succumbed to it. Had to toss the lot in a broody breaker pen.
I don't think they are--if they were they wouldn't leave their eggs alone, would they? They've been off em as soon as they're finished laying and don't get mad when I take them.
I have a 1 gallon pan I put in their pen during the summer, that they can step in, and on hot days, I dump and refill with cold water several times a day.
. I also set my pistol grip nozzle to mist and hang on fence when it's hot.. The girls hangout under the mist. It cools down the temperature. GC
