I've cleaned this thread up. If you aren't planning on attending then don't post complaining about procedures, rules are rules, let the Chickenstock go on as the rules allow.

thank you for cleaning this up!! we don't make the rules, but we encourage all that attend to follow the rules to avoid getting into trouble.

We have come to the conclusion that we do not need to be NPIP tested for the Chickenstocks in Maine. Not sure why it was an issue except for the fact that technically we should all be tested and participating in the NPIP program.

Finding a tester can be difficult, so if there are any NPIP testers out there in Maine or close to the NH boarder that is willing to test, please check in here and give us a hollar!

...has anyone noticed that warm yellow thing in the sky? is it a UFO or what?........

Tony, no, what it does is gives the state viral loads, types of AI, or MG,MS, even ILT if it may have mutated.
These are just random tests, like was mentioned, can be refused and it is not to point fingers at anyone, it is to check the back yard poultry at these events.

Basically NPIP is not manditory for gatherings unless you call is a show, auction, agricultural event, then that is when the legalities step in making previous testing and certificates neccesary.

Some folks say they are MG free, but here in Maine, 1980 when there was a huge AI scare and they were not sure about the different types of AI. In the process, they tested everything, most of the wild birds had and carried MS, tainting the rest of the Maine birds to be passed on etc through the eggs. So, like the hatcheries for instance, they are not required to test for the mycoplasmas (MG) and they dont. Its common place and as we all know, birds don't stop at the boarder of Maine.

Did I just give you to much information? But these swabs also tell if these bacterias/virus' mutate. NPIP is with blood, swabs are for throat cultures.
