We may actually break down and get some guineas. The ticks around here are TERRIBLE!! We usually have the turkeys free range and they eat the ticks, but they also hide eggs in the woods where we can't find them and I'm trying to hatch or sell them, so we have to keep them penned. I'm figuring the guineas can hang out in the pasture and woods and take care of our tick infestation. Especially when I've pulled a couple out of the kids' heads, off the dogs, off Ron and found one crawling on me! AND I heard somewhere that someone caught Lyme disease from a DOG tick... that really scares me!

Yes now dog ticks, wood ticks, deer ticks, are all carrying lyme disease, there was a report out last summer about them testing positive to the Lyme.
Guineas I have , Beth ann has guineas and I think Snow Horse has guineas for sale.
mine are just hatched and one has a curled foot I am fighting with.
they will be a week old by the swap.
snow and Beth have older more able to get the bugs.

Ingrid had a grand mal seizure when she was around 3... I never felt so terrified and helpless in my life when she was standing next to me on the couch then suddenly stiffened and fell over & started shaking! I knew immediately she was having a seizure (since my mom is epileptic), but I had no idea why she was seizing! The EMS people were great and said (as did the ER docs) that she had a fever spike which triggered the seizure. It happens to young children occasionally and they usually grow out of it. They also said tho that if they have one, they're prone to it happening again in the future, so now I'm paranoid every time she gets a fever. Luckily she hasn't had another one since that one time.

Fever seizures are the worse, not only are you fighting the seizure your fighting the fever, its a no win situation, I can handle adults having seizures but when it comes to a chikld me who never panicks panicks like the end of days.
they are very scarey in kids.

Can I ask opinions from you new england peeps?? I have 3 RIR that I am about to give away, probably as dinner... but I really want to be more sure of this particular chick. The other 2 are going, they have large pink/red combs... but this one, Violet, does not. Her comb looks the same as my red sex links combs. Since she doesn't have the comb like the others, I'd like to be sure before "she" goes.

Can anyone give me an opinion? I'm going to get rid of them on swap day. I doubt I would be able to find someone to take them at the swap, so I have my mom (lives in the area) asking a couple people who may take them. I will bring them to her the day of the swap. If I am not sure about Violet, I may decide to hold onto her a little bit longer until it is more obvious. Any opinions on "her"???

Thank you

It isn't normally pinkish, normally looks more yellowy. It is definitely not red. Maybe it doesnt show well in the video though.

The other 2 have huge pink/red combs, yikes. A lot different from Violet here. I am hoping she might possibly be a girl, but who knows.

Thank you Shay. I am going to the swap first, so that would be great if people can take a peek at Violet. I don't hold out much hope for the other 2 with the combs they have. It is a little crazy that all 3 would be roos when they were supposed to be sexed pullets... wish I knew about you people before, I never would've gotten any at Agway!
