I believe here in NH we can shoot them any time of year. My husband found the feather pile from the impact of a hawk in he leach field where they hang out during the day, no sign of the smaller chick or the roo and I have seen several hawks in trees at the same time in the past in the yard, so my guess is hawk.
I may be confused... but be careful shooting hawks, they are a Federally protected species... HEAVY FINES!
Yes Dave...you are confused! LOL If you re-read the post, you will see we are talking about shooting coyotes and foxes! hahahahaa! I was saying that I believe in NH, we dont have to wait for a hunting season to shoot coyote as they do in Mass. as she was saying about the trapping them. It IS illegal to trap, kill or even harass raptors (birds of prey) anyplace in the USA, but they in turn can harass, kill and maim our chickens and ducks. I am not sure about the rest of you, but last time I counted just in my local travels, thee seem to be an over abundance of them rebounding from their protected status. I had read on another thread a case in which someone got a special permit to "dispose" of a hawk that had actually attacked her grandaughter (?) and scratched the kids face.
