I will give it another try! I just feel so bad when they are almost ready and they suffocate, drown or whatever they do in there eggs to die. It is heart breaking. Ya, my dog sets me into pannik/anxiety attacks. I actually have to take neds myself because of him. It all started with the dog and now there are a few other factors that set the attacks off so they put me on seixure meds cause they are thinking they could possibly be petite seizures...imagine, little delicate seizures on a big cow like me!

Petite mal seisures have nothing to do withe size lol ( not of the person and your not fat geesh)
petite mal means small attack
Grand Mal seizure mean large ( dangerous) attacks.
I have both varieties, not fun in either case, its a short circut in the brain, the electrons in the brain misfire, get confused, fire of in a disorganized pattern.
if you have been diagnosed with Fibro then it wouldnt surprise me this is happening.
the petite mal are the ones that most people call day breaming, you kind shut off for a few seconds, your there but your really not there so to speak. these little buggers are the ones that trigger panick attacks ( also knows as anxiety attacks)
Grand Mal seizures are the ones where you fall onto the floor shake , twist, convulse, twitch, and usually lose control of bodily functions.
these ones are the most dngerous because you can injure your self, have a stroke or heart attack.

Yes! You described it just like it happens, and the thing is I have had 2 TIA's. One of them about 8 years ago and the other about 6 years ago. Is this all just part of the aging process or are we doing something wrong? Oh Ya...stressing over hatching eggs and sick dogs! LOL

Hi Muffi! Was wondering where you were! Yes, I measure the humidity in the bators as well, even have 2 temp/hum gages in there. Just dont get what is happening! I am wondering if I should just keep the humidity up from day one as some people have been telling me that small banty eggs are harder to hatch?

Harts flea preps

have killed more cats and dogs than you know, that stuff is just bad bad, I wouldnt ever use it on any of my animals, Advantage, Frontline and Revolution here all the way, rotate fle preps so the stupid fleas do not become immune,
NEVER USE HARTS ANYTHING.

Totally agree on this! When I was working as a vet tech we had more animals come in woth toxic poisoning from Hartz products. Especially the cat ones. I do use their bird protectors on my diamond dove flight cage and have used thoise for years with no problems though. Maybe it is because they dont work anyway! LOL

Believe it or not STRESS is the major factor here, the more stress the more our brains rebel and tend to mis fire, has nothing to do with age actually.

Gypsy, I had three out of four turkeys hatch. I still have one in the bator cause I know I saw it moving in the egg! They are sooo cute and doing great! Pictures to follow!

When I incubate based on the general guidelines, I only get about 50% hatch rate. I was able to get my hatch up to around 90% for chicken eggs by weighing the eggs every week to check their moisture loss. I target 5% loss by day 7, 9% day 14 and 12% day 18. If they are losing more, add more water; if less, add less water. I measured each egg, because I didn't have that many and they were large enough to measure the weight loss on my kitchen scale. Banties might be hard to measure, but you could always measure the weight of several together and track the group weight loss. That's what hatcheries do, I've heard. They track the weight of their entire trays.

Actually we monitor both room and bator our LG's in a 70 degree room with 50-55% humidity gives us 45% humidity in a 99.5 bator with the fan, without the fans we get around 50% and the temps tend to run around 100

weird, course we have never been a "normal" family

Are those numbers with no additional water in the incubator? If you add any water, it will raise the humidity obviously.
