Actually setting up some breeding pens today. Favs., moderns, silkies. Some young guys just starting to lay. Will turn the bator back on after the Holidays so will have room for all the hatchlings

Thanks guys! I thought of something yesterday: hatching Seramas is like opening a box of chocolates---you never know what you're gonna get!

I get different ones every time, and they are always just so cute! As much as i like to have the mommas raise them, i do enjoy having them in the house! We find Seramas to be so gentle and easily tamed---they make the most awesome pets, and my kids love to hold them and carry them around. Even the adult roosters are nice birds, especially if handled a lot so they are used to it. I find that Seramas are NOT as messy and smelly as other chickens---i've had silkies and some mixed bantams as well as layer chicks in my house too. The Seramas are much cleaner in comparison---great for pet birds! Everyone should have a few!

I agree with the "house chickens", they are awesome. Course everyone thinks we are nuts chickens in the house, they need to be in the barn, yeah what do they know

Found a cute little thing on the internet the other day

What is it with people.. House Chickens aren't for everyone, but there are worst things you could be into that's for sure. We actually have three running around right now, shhhhhh don't tell anyone. The dogs are actually pretty good with them too, still one little TFT that will chase the young chicks if they run, she has never hurt one, she's a whole 2 pounds.

Are the buffs laying yet? I'm getting a ton of eggs from the BBS. I may even set some tomorrow, then change a couple pens around. Right now I have a blue pair, and a blue roo in with blue, black and splash hens. I'm going to take out the black and splash hens and put them in with a new black roo, and keep 2 blue x blue pens to see what I get. Fingers crossed we have no more power outages! The one splash chick looks good so far but the black chick only has 4 toes on each foot. Hopefully it will be a pullet and easily placed.
