Hey i entered the mottled cochin into teh show on jan 15 & 16. her eye looks awsome.

How should I give them the tylan? and how much? I dont want to inject into the muscle because that made one of my other bantams really lame afterwards. I have read about putting it diectly into their mouth.

yep you can put it down there mouth, or inject in teh back of the neck near teh shoulders.
you would do the same amount as if you were injecting.

yea they came right out into teh snow, your right tehy have all that down feathers, i am more worried about there feet,
teh geese and ducks keep laying in teh snow, is that normal?

I lost the sebrite hen and now am waiting to see if the OEGB pullet is going to make it thru. Medicated her and we will have to wait and see. I hate winter and with the wacky weather we had all fall I am surprised not more peoples birds got sick.

lol, not these ones, they all came running out when i opened there coop doors. They love eating the snow.

My ducks seem to be enjoying the snow.

I did shovel their yard .

I worry about their feet. But, keep checking them and they are OK. I have to force them to go inside at night.

Our ducks and geese love the snow and wan to stay out but get forced in at night too.Except the 2 12yr old pekins and 10 year old runner they want in as soon as its getting dusk

OK, what the heck is killing my birds. This morning I went out to let them into their pen, fed and watered everyone, head count and no casualties with the exception of yet another hen failing, looking weak and falling over, not being able to stand. But to get back to my question..Wayne came home and found a feet, and vertebe pile and some feathers in the pen, but no animal tracks.
There were a few small spaces in the deer netting along the rail at the top of the pen, but nothing that you would even notice without checking along the rail with your hands. So what could have gotten in there at some point this morning or afternoon in the daylight and gotten this hen? Should I keep all the chickens in the coop tomorrow or is that being cruel? I think I would rather confine them for a day or two rather than loose more to what got this one today. I got a Moultrie game cam for X-mas, but have not had time to set it up because the directions seem so intense. But it looks like I will have to force myself to read them and not get frustrated with them and get the thing up and running!
