Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

Pics
On the topic of walking.....today when walking the neighbor's puppy, she was super energetic, running around, sniffing, etc. I let her chase leaves, but that was the only time that I would speed up for her. I thought that letting her pull me along could develop a bad habit, so I kept walking at the same pace the whole time, and let her move freely around me on the leash (aside from when a car came pass, so I made sure she was on the grass). I realize now that that was putting a lot of pressure on her neck. Being mindful that this isn't my dog and I"m not in charge of training, what should I do? I really don't want to enforce bad habits by accident.

focus on engagment, and getting her attention. it will be much easier to get her to stop pulling if you can call her name to redirect her from pulling

Yup.
Even more fun, I correct puppies by growling. It's wildly effective. No strangers will ever challenge you after seeing it, either.

I can't even count the number of people who are confused and disappointed watching me train horses.
But ... he's so calm. It looks like you're just messing around with him.
Well, yeah dude. You want a calm horse, you train them calm. You want a neurotic mess, you make it look interesting.
YOU KNOW HORSES, TOO!?!?!?

She responds well to her name, especially with the added gesture of me snapping my fingers in her line of sight, near where I want her to be. She gets very interested. (I can't snap for real, so there's no 'snap' sound, just the motion) It didn't really stay consistent, though, and she got distracted really quickly.

any way you can turn in circles every time she pulls. She wants to go forward. taking her in a circle every time she pulls might stop her from pulling

I should hope so, I own enough of them ;)

The one facing the camera is Connemara stallion Kaleidoscope's O'Really . The one looking straight ahead is Arrow's Flight Sequoia, a mustang/Morgan cross.

Another picture of O'Really (barn name Blarney)

He's standing at stud here in NY with me, and there's more info on him on my breeding partner's website, if you google his name.

I almost nothing about horses. I have a moderate understanding of how to tack up, I can walk, halt, and do a sitting and posting trot, and I know how to lead them properly. (I still struggle with mounting without a mounting block, though) Can we start a "RiverOtter's or DLHOCNT's Horse Q&A"?
