Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

Prong collar and a 4 foot leash. we where walking, doing great. We've walked past that dog lots of times. I was keeping tension to keep him close, because he likes to wader down onto the rode, I don't think he likes walking on the slanted ground. I wasn't thinking, and I wasn't trying to keep him from the dog, I was trying to keep him from the road. When i walk past triggers I try and keep the loosest leash possible.

I'm frusterated and sad, and my arm really really hurts.
:hugs

@black_cat, can you have somebody watch you while you walk her, or videotape (better), and watch carefully and see if she is limping at all, or bobbing her head or anything like that, esp on the front end. The fact that she rolls over while running is also concerning. There is no reason she just wouldn't "want" to go where you want to go. It really sounds physical to me. Watch for limping, dragging a toe, head bobbing, and if you see any of that, take her to your vet and describe all that to them.

Its not their dog. Its a dog they walk.

People do that? That's weird. I never give them commands, just pet them
Yes. "What's your dog's name? Missy? Hi, Missy! Good Missy! Sit, Missy. Missy, SIT!" That's why I NEVER tell strangers my dog's real name. In public my dog's name changes every day. People mean well but they are dopes.

I've made this sound worse than it is- she's walking fine on all four legs, and her head is constantly focused on either chasing something, sniffing something, or eating something that she's not supposed to. She rolls over while running because she tries to make a hairpin turn to chase a tennis ball, and trips over her own feet while on a slope. I only mentioned this as an example of her being completely fine and nothing hurting. It's usually just her being stubborn because she wants to go right up to someone's house and I don't want to be weird. She's not my dog, but I walk her and play with her b/c both adults in the house are fairly busy with work and they have three young kids, so it's hard for them to use up all of her puppy energy.

I've been bitten by just such a dog. Don't trust a wagging tail.
Really? Huh! I've never had a bad experience with an off leash dog at a public place that comes up to me, and I don't really have any qualms about it if they do, because anyone who has their dog off leash at the beach clearly trusts the dog not to bite people or other dogs. (off leash doesn't mean trailing a leash with no human attached, it means dog without a leash clipped on)
