are there slight differences in english and american breed standards?? because I watch a lot of crufts and I feel like these dogs are very different

The standards can be different, we have something called breed watch here for the dogs with health problems caused by how they look to avoid those problems

Like for german sheherds this is what they have listed to watch for and avoid

• Cow hocks
• Excessive turn of stifle
• Nervous temperament
• Sickle hock
• Weak hindquarters
