Nah, we're going to see my great grandmother and have lunch. Then Friday we're going to see dh's father in the hospital and have lunch with his brother and nieces. We should only be gone a few hours tops. I'll just top off the feeder/waters and we'll go. Ho hum...

You know, this is a crying shame!!!!

After having to help Boogie out, I was worried about this pipped chick. I opened a hole in the air sac and he was drying out! The membrane was stuck on his eye... I cracked open as much as I dared, covered him up and stuck him back in the bator. Then I cracked open the remaining eggs... All fully formed yellow and gray chicks... DRIED OUT. Yolk sacks were absorbed, they were ready. One was breech... I feel SO sad...

I'm glad I helped Boogie and #4 when I did. I hope #4 comes out of his shell successfully while I'm in NJ. Ughhh! Wish him luck, I'm headed out the door right now.

I'm so sorry. I have been waiting to hear good news. Maybe when you come back you will get some. This HAS been a long weekend.

As soon as these last 3 eggs hatch, we're ready for the next batch too! Got the eggs just a waiting to be put in!

Hey, why don't we put our eggs in on the same day and compare hatches again

I was thinking the same thing!!! Unfortunately, I am buying my eggs online and don't have them yet.

They will be close though.

My redwood bator runs high, at about 60ish without any water. But I've been doing the same thing for YEARS and never had this much trouble with a hatch...

I literally just walked in the door to watch #4 pull itself from the egg shell. Hopefully it makes it and then we'll have 4 chicks... hatch over.

<DH might sh*t himself when I tell him that I want a flock of 30 birds>>

Hahahaha how do you think my DH feels now that my flock is up to 130?

I wish I would of read this for my 2nd hatch. I get 1/2 my hatch (which is good in a LG forced and a LG still air) but 1/2 hatch and then nothing, they end up being dried in the shell and dead. The out side shell is like baked clay so even if they pip the air sack how would they pip the shell.

How long do you all leave the eggs once the first one pips before you check the others. The chicks that live have all pipped and were out within 24 hours to 36 hours from the first pip and then nothing and I wait the 2 or 3 days they say to wait after the last one hatches and that is when I get the dried out chicks. Should I check sooner then 2 or 3 days.

How do you win a no winner?
