One was dead when I came home from an overnight. No blood, no animals got in. about 2 days later another hen was in the corner by herself and I realized my rooster had not crowed in 2 days and his tail feather were down.He was still moving around she was not so much. I started giving them both vitamins orally and cider vinegar in the water.By the next day you could tell she was struggling to breath and falling on her side. Separated her. No runny nose or anything i could see. She died. Took roo to the vet ,his crop was hard , they drained it and I've been massaging it daily and egg yolk and yogurt scramble for them, trying to keep his strength up. But he is still not crowing and tail is down. But he is eating and crop feels better. My hen in the picture seems fine but maybe skinny, and the broddy seems fine but she's not out much. The 2 that died and the broody, were from the same batch about 8 months old. The one in picture and roo are about 11- 12 monthsWhat signs of illness did you see in the two that died? Age, any other details about their behavior, the coop/run set up?
Pine shavings in the coop and nesting boxes. Construction sand on ground. Layer crumbles, fruit and veggies, and yes grit . Also added a door off the back with a free range area that’s has poultry netting around it because we had a hawk get one when they were free ranging openly, that part is just dirtWhat are you using for bedding, what were you feeding them? Grit available?
