Chicks and baby wood ducks HELP!!!

Ok me and my family were outside and are dog started barking and 8 baby wood ducks came out of no were running across are yard and we caught them and put them were the mom could come get them but she didn't come back all day so I decided to put the 8 baby ducks with my 9 , 4 to 6 week old chicks
I was wondering is this going to be ok cause I don't want to just reliese them to the wild and yes we did call are local conservation people and they told us to just let them go and let Mother Nature take it course HELP

I'm new so I'm not 100% on this but I thought I've read that they shouldn't be together
