Chicks and dust! Arghhhhh!

A T Hagan I love your brooder. I just may have to invest in one. It sure would be better than in my study. I'll be dusting books the rest of my life! My kids are growing up and leaving so I really was considering a vacant bedroom upstairs or just moving them to my barn office, but something like this could go in a vaccant stall pretty easy. What is the bottom made of? I can see fencing of some sort.

The box the brooder hover is in is all plywood. It's based on a full sheet of quater inch plywood (4x8). The sides take up another sheet, two feet tall. One side is hinged as you can see so I can get into it. Hinging both sides would be better. The framing is all 2x2s including the hardware cover top. The brooder hover is as per the plans I linked, but reduced in size for about fifty chicks or less. I line the whole thing with sheet plastic now for easier clean up.

Found a good place in my barn to put one last night. Thanks so much for sharing!!

That is a good idea of a brooder! Hopefully our weather pattern up here in NH is regulating a little more and soon they will be able to be in the coop!
