I just recently purchased 3 chicks - now 6 weeks old and they are thriving in their coop. I wanted to get jail too. Do they get along? How do I know which ones are best? How much room do they need to truly be happy?

Not sure what "jail" is, please explain.

Are you talking mixing chickens and quail? Lots of people say that's a big no-no due to chickens immunities to diseases that game birds do not have, and some say they have 0 problems and even hatch quail eggs under a bantam hen.

Lots of good science out there to prove it's a bad idea.

The quail in this thread was infected with coryza by a "healthy" chicken.

This is a poultry disease index with diseases listed alphabetically. Three common diseases transmitted between the two are coryza, MG, and blackhead. Take a minute to read about them before you put chickens in contact with any game birds. Many poultry diseases cannot be tested for, vaccinated for, or cured. A bird once infected with coryza or MG will carry/transmit it for the rest of it's life.

It's like playing russian roulette, you can win, but there is still a bullet in the gun while you play.
