No avocado? Oops.

Why no avocados? We give ours the avo skins after scooping out the goodness for ourselves, and the chickens love love love the little bit we miss.

Also, we give ours leftover potato bits.

Interesting but vague. A little like my best friend's sister's boyfriend's cousin heard Ferris Beuller passed out at the mall. Its pretty serious.

It is the skins and pits that are dangerous as they contain a toxin called persin which apparently causes respiratory issues in birds. The avocado flesh itself is not dangerous for them to eat but agree with other posters that chicks at this age should primarily be getting their chick starter and that’s it. I do feed my younger chicks scrambled eggs but only about once a week for a treat and this is from four weeks of age and up.
