Squee!!! I haven't had chickens since I was a kid. My husband and I have finally settled in an area that is perfect for raising some chickens. I ordered 26 straight run mixed rare birds from McMurray. They should arrive the first week of July. I'm so excited. But oh my what have I gotten myself into! I have no real adult experience raising chickens. So I figured i would join here and hopefully get all the backup I need :)

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you are where you can have chickens and you will find lots of useful information on this site. I have ordered chicks on several occassions from Murray McMurray and have always been happy with their birds and service. It will be exciting to see what kind of chickens they send you. If you have questions, just post them on the forum. I'm sure you will get lots of replies. Good luck with your flock.

I was just thinking that too - I've seen lots of stories about straight run producing an abundance of cockerels. :lol: Good luck with your chickens though, and it will be exciting to see what they give you! Have fun and I hope it all goes well for you.
