So our black tail is broody for the first time and a few of her eggs just hatched but she and the chicks aren't eating or drinking

Chicks don't need to eat for three days because they're living off the yolk they absorbed -- that's why they can be shipped in the mail.

When she decides the hatch time is finished, she will get up to eat and drink. She will also teach her chicks.
