OK,Ii have posted this elswhere yesterday, but I will try here as well.
I have the same issue with one of my chicks. It's little legs just don't work; they aren't stiff, just useless. It gets around very little and tries to scoot and flap it's wings and peeps very loudly. I hobbled it's legs with a bandaid yesterday but that does nothing since the legs are curled up. I am feeding it tiny drops of vitamin water and some egg yolk yesterday.
My questions are:
1. How much food and water should a 5 day old under-developed chick be consuming? How often should I be feeding it?
2. Would toothpick splints be something to try? then tape his feet flat? I did this once on a zebra finch's broken leg with great success, but this is not a fracture that I know of.
3. I don't wnat to throw it in the chipper like they do in the big hatcheries, so I will give it all I've got until "It'sTime", as they say in the movies.
I know I sound like a complete wuss but this is my first time with such a chick.
