Hi everyone,

One of our chicks, Tina, has had a blind right eye for the last week or so. It had been shut for a while, and we didn't know what she had. We separated her from the other chicks during the day because she didn't seem to be able to eat as much as the other chicks. We treated her eye with a drop of a mild comfrey tea we created. It seemed to be helping because she started opening her eye again. However the surface of her eye was very cloudy, and then yesterday we had another look and it looked like an enlarged white bump on the cornea. My friends suggested it was a cataract and probably a dead eye now.

Today I heard her crying in the coop, and I saw one of the other aggressive chicks was overly interested in her, and then I saw it actually peck at her eye. I immediately separated the aggressive chick from the flock. I picked up Tina and took a couple pictures of her. Her left eye is fine, but her right eye looks really awful now.

Does anyone have an idea what I can do to ease Tina's pain? I feel so bad for her.

Thanks in advance!
Paul

Hi &

. Sorry your little chick is feeling bad. It's a good idea to keep her away from other aggressive chicks right now. You can put neosporin around and over her eye. If some gets in her eye it is fine and might help clear it up. I have read other post that said not to use the neosporin w/ pain reliever around the eye. Hope it helps her

Good Luck
