Chicks coming to TSC next week!

And one of my Barred Rock hens (Pepper) just went broody today!

So sometime next week I'll probably have 6 to 12 chicks under Ms. Pepper!

Hooray for Mrs. Pepper and her soon-to-be peeps!

They were setting up the brooders at our TSC today, 8 of them and, amusingly, the same exact one we'd bought. My sons are really looking forward to having chicks... and so am I! Seems like it's been forever.

Last night I had a wonderful dream that I took $25 with me to get my chicks. They had a deal "Buy 2 get 1 free". I ended up buying 12 chicks and got 6 free! I took them home and offered them to Pepper. She clucked happily and rose off her nest a bit. The chicks raced to her and she covered them with her feathers. Pepper was so flat that she looked like a big flat barred panacake with chick legs sticking under her and little heads sticking out everywhere in her feathers!

I am planning on getting 4 Barred Rocks, 4 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Cochin, and 3 Delawares.
