Chicks delivered tomorrow, it's 20 degrees at night, help!

I used grogel for these. I bought one packet, mixed it with 1/2 cup water and gave a big dollup to each level of the brooder, they LOVED it!!! I also scrambled them some organic eggs and mixed in plain organic yogurt and give them big dollups of that. They peck at it and shake their heads.

After 1 week, I keep my chicks at 70+ degree and they feather out really nice. The warmer you keep them, they will take longer to feather out. My chicks are 2 weeks old now and they are running around eating and very healthy. Hot spots are around 60+ degree now. I lost 1 chick out of 120+. I want to train them tough so they will handle tough weather at a later time.

for pasty butt ..... go out in your yard pull up some grass with roots and dirt and all and it will clear it up with in 24 hours ... orderd 50 chicks for meyer hatchery and thay all ended up it it i called my grandpa and he told me what to do and it works

If they are huddled together they are cold . They need a heat source , I would never put one weekers at 70 degrees though I dont mind it dropping to 85 or so after the first week though I really try to keep a place in the brooder where its the right temp, pasty butt , failure to thrive and weak or small chicks can come from them not being warm enough as there little bodies use eveything they have to try to stay warm.
