We have a baby chick that is 2 months old that just up a died. It was up running around eating and acting just fine. We went out to check on them just a little while ago and it was dead. Is there anyone that can give us a suggestion as to what caused it to die that quick?

I just lost all my chicks.... I think 25 or 30. I let them out side at 4 weeks. I took the first few as a loss from the new enviroment.... but everyday I found a few more dead babies... untill one day I probably pulled 8 babies from the coop. I pulled the remaining bird back into the brooder. I couldn't figure out why they were dying.... I blamed one of my hens cause many died in the nest under her.... I blamed my dog... I thought maybe they got too cold.... Maybe they never figured out where the food was....

cleaning the coop out this week end I found a hole in the water dish....

even thou both me and my hubby where watering them everyday they were dying of dehydration....

We had some chicks in a brooder that started dying one right after the other. We tried saving them, but all but one of them died within a few days time. When we moved the last 3 that were living into a different brooder, my husband pulled the old one out and found a lot of mold under it on the ground. We think that may be the reason that they all died. Out of the 3 that we finally moved out, two more died that same day. We only have one left now. (It has been about a month and the one that survived is healthy now.)

I am not certain that the mold killed them, but we think that was probably it.
