Chicks Dusting Themselves

I noticed that a few of my 3 week old chicks are dusting themselves in the pine shavings.....should I provide dirt/sand for them to dust in?

You can or just let them use the shavings.

Mine just bathe in their shavings until they get to go outside and find their own dirt.

I've been using play sand because my birds are on 'new ground' and I'm trying to keep it free of pests. I put DE in the sand and also around the edge of the run. I need a bigger sandbox, though! I use a kitty litter scoop to keep it free of poops.
