i am sure it must have been some sort of a glitch in the system, but still. . . I would definately not said you were rude. Dying chicks are a sad thing, but it is part of having chickens, and when you get a bunch of babies it is to be expected. Ideal does a great job of getting chicks here--for some reason they get here quicker from them than from anywhere else. I think i got chicks from them 8 times last year; so I don't know what is going on here. I AM frustrated by it, but I learned a long time ago not to lose your sense of humor over anything, no matter how serious. Sometimes its all there is to keep you going. So keep on cheering us all up! Meanwhile I am still going to find out what happened(now I'm being serious!) with that post

Ok...there was a reply from sumatra BUT not send by her that was a part of a quote that called me rude. SHE DID NOT POST THAT MESSAGE. We don't understand what happened, but all is well. The original message is gone, but you can see the quote in one of my replys.

I'm so glad we all worked it out! Let's hope we can figure it out so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Im so sorry for your losses, I know what you must be feeling, I ordered 10 asst. silkies, and 3 buff seabrites and 3 silver seabrites from Ideal when I got them on friday, (shipped out on Weds) 12 were DOA all of the seabrites, and 6 of the silkies, since then I have lost 3 more silkies and have one remaining little buff silkies. she is starting to pep up but who knows, Ideal is going to send replacement chicks in April towards the end of the month, We decided to wait till the weather was much better before they send the tiny chicks,
Ideal was very understanding about the chicks not making it and was very helpful, I would bet the MPC would also be very nice about you requesting replacements too.

In answer to your question is this typical, not in my op. Folks who work must plan for the arrival of their chicks. That's just the way it is. If they tell you they are sending them out on Mon. you can expect them on Wed. If they are coming priortiy. This means someone has to be ready to pick them up. Especially if you have not so nice Postal personel. Communitcation is key.
I was able to pick mine up at the back door at 6:30 am well before my wife had to leave for work. If you need to take a vacation day to get them do it. Chicks can live for "up to" to three days w/o food after hatching which means by the time they get to you they are at day three. Maybe delegate someone else to be the pick up person.
Unfortunately OP things did not work out. Try not to feel to bad. Life goes on.
