Chicks filling water with shaving and poop.

My chicks are almost 5 weeks old and I change there water mutli times a day bc they keep filling the water with shaving and poop. I'm not sure how to fix this I already raised the water higher. I just don't want them to get sick. Any ideas ? Is this commen?

Trust me very common vary annoying. The best way I've gotten around it is putting the water on a rock so it's higher up or hanging from the top, but there is no way I have found to completely stop it.

I know this can be frustrating but this is just what they do. My suggestion would be to hand the water from the ceiling or from a ladder or something like that. For my ducks, which are way more messy with water than chickens, I hang their waterer on the ceiling of their coop to prevent their bedding from getting too wet and to prevent bedding in their water like you said.

Thank you for this great advise I'm deff going to try hanging it. If not I'll try a large rock.
