I now have 3 Barred Rocks because I sadly lost one to unknown events. One thing I realize from my Barred rocks is that they tend to stray away to the heat lamp. They are only 4 days old so they should need a lot of warmth, yet they are going away from their source of heat. I'm thinking my 4th Barred Rock died because it was cold and I don't want the same thing happening so what's up with the currently living 3? Are they actually hot? They have been sleeping on the opposite side from the heat lamp so I don't know what's going on.

Probably they are to hot

Yes if they avoid the lamp they are too hot. If you can post a picture of your setup someone with experience can give your more suggestions if you need them. Good luck with your flock!
Thank you. I'll send a picture of my setup. They usually sleep next to the water in the right corner.

The sides look like glass (or other solid clear material).
That will hold heat in.

Do you have a thermometer in there? If not you need one.

They also don't have a fully cool area. Not sure how that can be accomplished with that size brooder and solid walls.
