Ok, so i have one turkey in with my mixed chicken flock. They are all about 8 weeks old. They have been together since I got them at a couple days old. I thought maybe my poult, Mushroom, was a gal because she is so sweet with the chicks and snuggles with them and they curl up next to their big sis to stay warm. I know it will be some time before I figure out if it really is a jenny. But today as I was hanging out with them and doing barn chores I notices two of my gals (the chicks) grooming the turkey. One was cleaning Mushrooms face and one was grooming her wing feathers. Is this normal and I just never noticed the girls grooming each other before? With the chickens at work, the hens really only groom the roo. What's going on here? Is it a male? Are the chicks grooming him because there isn't a roo? Or do they just groom each other sometimes? It is so cute! But I'm so curious...

Funny! I saw this today with my 9 week old pullets. It was 110 degrees out and I took them out one at a time and gave them a quick dip in water. After they were all back in the run, I noticed one Barred Rock gently grooming or preening the other's wet wing feathers. You're right...darn cute!
