Chicks Hatching in Fishtank

Do you put anything on top of the tank? I am amazed that a heating pad puts out enough heat through the towel, the glass and then through the egg cartons?!?! that is incredible.

Like I said..I only use this as a hatcher for the last 3 days..I do have a Hovabator to do the rest of the cooking..lol..

That is too cute! I might try that on my next set of eggs. I would love to be able to see better then a 8 X 7 inch window. On another note Heating pads are pretty good at putting out a constant heat (as long as its a old one that doesn't shut itself off). Thats what I have in my igloo cooler bator. No Termostat just a heating pad on med. Drilled holes to add air flow and lower temp slowly til it hit 100. As long as the temp inside your house stays pretty stable it works. This is my 5th set of eggs and is still going strong. Good luck and very cute babies.

I have 2 so far and got one crackin..so will see tomorrow what it does. The 2 are snuggled ina see thru tub so I can check on them without scaring them..lol..I will post a pic..I will end up putting 6 FBS maran eggs in there on weds if all goes well...lol
