chicks have arrived

I couldn't tell you wrong or right I just read to put something down and sprinkle food on it to help them find their food easier and so they won't eat pine shavings

I just got some three day olds and also had them on newspaper. I put some wood shavings on top, but they are eating them. I will also try the paper towel. I also heard to put Apple cider vinegar in their water. Is it too early for that? Any other advice? I have four older girls, but these are my first babies.

I use puppy pads in my broader for the first two weeks then switch out to big pine shavings. If you use the puppy pads you will have to change them daily but it works great. They also give them a barrier from a cold floor and helps hold heat in.

Puppy pads! Dang it that is brilliant! I did not even think of that and I have some extra lying around. I have straw down currently so we will see how well that goes for the first few days. Thanks for sharing that tip
