Does anyone put chicks straight in the coop with the big girls? I'm hoping it's not a horrible idea. We only have 2 chicks. We wanted to let the kids pick one each. We also have 4 hens. They mainly stay in the lower "run" or free range. They come up top to sleep and to lay. We put a light in the corner for heat. The hens seem to be staying on their sleeping end and the chicks by the light. Haven't seen any pecking yet. I was hoping as long as they aren't hurting the babies that they'll get used to them to avoid adding older chicks in with big girls and the babies will learn to live in the coop?
