Chicks just arrived from MPC!

Mine should be here from MPC on Thursday or Friday and I'm so excited (and nervous). I'm glad you reported they all arrived alive and healther because I was wondering about that. I ordered 8 Red Stars and I've already warned my 8 y.o. daughter that they might not all arrive alive. Good luck with your babies and give us status updates!!!
 
So cute! I just ordered mine and they will be here in June. It is kind of fun to wait; I am excited about it but we need to make a brooder and get the run set up too.

I got four as well from MPC (the absolute max for our yard, we think!) and it's good to know they got to you safely. Congrats!
 
I could not be happier with MPC. I called them several times asking "newbie" questions and they were always great. They put two phone numbers on the box just to make sure the USPS got a hold of me. The heat pack was still warm when it arrived and the box was sealed very well with holes for ventilation.

These chicks look so much healthier than the ones I saw at a local feed store. SO glad I ordered from MPC, it was worth the high shipping cost.

Here's a photo of their setup and the box they came in. They were all snuggled together when I opened the box.

I put the stones in their water to keep them from drowning.

I think this one is going to be the head hen. She is already quite pushy with the other chicks.

speckled sussex are beautiful chickens.. i got to see one recently at a get together, i wish i could justify getting a few....

your barred rocks and your dominiques are going to grow up to look very similar.. in fact a lot of people confuse the 2 breeds
if i remember correctly, the difference is in the combs.. can't remeber types though...

i have 1 barred rock and 2 cuckoo marans hens, and i can't tell them apart in the yard unless i see all 3 of them together... they have different colored legs, but i can never remember which is which on that difference either... lol...
