Well, my 5 weekers have decided that our waterer makes a great roost. They have roosts in the brooder, but the waterer is the place to hang out. Any suggestions as to how to keep them off of it? I have reaised it up, but that didn't make a difference.

Thanks, Sonja

Can you glue or duct tape a styrofoam cone to the top? My 4 weekers are doing that too and keep tipping it over so this is what I might try.

I put a cone over the top of mine. What I did was cut off the bottom a bleach bottle and slipped it over the waterer, upside down. Why a bleach bottle? 'Cos it fit!

Any sort of tapered container, even a funnel wold do as well. Also, hanging the waterer is an option.

Mine did that a few times then moved on to platforms, roosts, etc. It's like they fixate on toys or something...

It also has to do with the fact that chickens naturally want to "go up," to borrow an old term.
Anythign in their environment that allow for that is fair game.
