View attachment 1847041 on Saturday July, 14 8 new chicks hatched and they are soo cute, but unfortunately I’m not able to keep them. Luckily there are many people looking into raising chickens. When would be a good time to let them leave the nest and find their forever home? The momma hen seems to be in love with her babies and it’s sad to have to make her let them go.

If the folks getting the chicks from you have a proper brooder setup they can start getting the chicks from you in as little as a day but depending on how good a mom your hen is you may want to give them a couple days to a week to grow. Many feed stores get day olds on friday prime for sale saturday and sunday. If your hen hasnt raised chicks well in the past or you notice her struggling with the chicks you can always put them in a brooder yourself. Hope that helps.

Technically the chicks can be taken and brooded by humans from the start, but since mama has put in the work in hatching them, I think it'd be best for both her and the babies to spend some time together so she can teach them to be chickens, then when she's ready to wean them you can find them new homes.
